    I go green Do you
Found this cutie Rag Doll at an Estate sale in Missouri.  She is signed by the artist and has a great story.
Sandra Greene from Branson,  Mo is the designer of this copyright doll Wagon Train Dolls.  This is the story she has on her attached card.
"The Wagon Train Dolls originated on the wagon trains headed west as early as the late 1700's.  Originally made from old rags, it was meant to amuse a 2-3 year old child until the train reached its destination.  The fabric was rough, dark-colored, and of many different designs.  For this reason eyes were not drawn on the doll-there was no clear space to draw them.  The head was usually made from a was of material, but walnuts, stones, grass, or dried mud balls were also used.
After the family was settled in their new home, a doll might have been made from wool, yarn (ends from the loom), corn husks, prairie grass, or whatever was at hand.
Children today love the dolls as much as the children of long ago who many times had no other toys."
    I just love this story.
This doll is in good pre owned condition.  The tag with story is attached and Sandra Greene signed the doll.  I think her name is Henny is approx 11 inches and her body sits on a peg to hold her up.  She is holding a basket of chickens and has a chicken apron on.
