    Description

Rycom Model 6041 Frequency Selective Level Meter
Special Deal: Make an offer of 9.00 to instantly close auction and secure this Rycom 6041.
This Rycom’s condition is best shown by the included complete set of pictures. It works properly in the Calibrate (
    Cal
    ) position at 250.00 kHz.
The first picture shows proper and normal operation in the calibrate mode.
This test equipment works to receive radio signals from about 0.3 KHz to 3,500 kHz. It was tested to work properly by receiving local AM radio stations with a length of wire as an antenna.
For operation as a low frequency receiver, connect a wire-type antenna to the input BNC coaxial connector. Set the input toggle switch to ‘unbalanced’ mode and adjust the Input Attenuator for the desired decade sensitivity range.
'Lowfers' are a growing set of low-frequency listeners, which are the counter-part of short-wave listeners. Place an Internet search to learn more.
Operational test modes are Amplitude Modulation (AM), Upper Sideband (USB) and Lower Sideband (LSB). Rycoms can also be used for signal tracing in the IF strips of radio receivers during alignment and maintenance activities.
Rycoms are also used for very low-frequency carrier signal tests by power companies. These signals are often superimposed directly on high voltage power lines for data, telemetry, protective relaying and telephony applications. Such signals below about 200 kHz can often be received on a simple wire antenna. Rycoms can also be used for Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) detection and location.
The internal power supply/ battery charger is defective.
However an external 12 Volt DC regulated power supply can be connected to the battery wires. With external power applied, this Rycom 6041 instrument was tested by Seller to work properly. Seller owns a good working spare Rycom 6041, and consequently has no incentive to repair this unit.
Any tech that's worth their salt should be able to repair the internal power supply. In the Seller's opinion, this professional grade instrument should be worth about 400 bucks after power supply repair.
Selectable Bandwidth: 'Monitor' (wide) 3.1 kHz or 'Measure' (Narrow) 50 Hz
All ports and connectors are in good physical condition.
All knobs and selectors work properly.
600 Ohm Scale Calibration Level: 0.0 Db = 0.775 VAC
Meter correctly calibrates to -30.0 Db, as it should in the CAL position
Original AC Power cord is included.
Operating manual is not included, however a free manual can be downloaded.
Defective batteries were removed, however batteries are not required for operation.
