  • Condition: Good-Very Good overall antique cond: An exciting, extraordinary Nat Am (Southwest US) hand-built & hnd dec w/burnt sienna slip glz, bisque-fired, earthenware cer vessel or watering jug, w/splayed open pouring spout, elliptical angular form w/repeating hnd pntd geo-abstract upper sidewall pattern. Signed by hand w/a hand written high case monogram signature 'HSP' on the baseplate. The vessel has quite conspicuous form, appearing much like an angular flying saucer, w/its abrupt turns & acute angles. The only perhaps soft spot on it, is its apex pouring spout, which sits above a tubular shaft, ascending from its dec upper shoulders. The upper sidewalls have hnd dec & now slightly diminished in intensity, hnd pntd burnt sienna slip glz, geo-abstract repeating patterning, circumnavigating the girth of the vessel. The water jug has a satin finish which is slightly reflective. The entire form was hand-built from ceramic coil, smoothed & finished by hand. An extraordinary, very beautiful pc.
