century. Filigree jewelry was popular in medieval Syria and Iran. In a 12th century manuscript, the Treatises of FIxed Stars, female figures representing constellations are portrayed wearing crescent shaped jewelry.
Earrings are handmade in Colombia out of .950 silver by an artisan specialized in the art of ancient filigree.
The original earrings are preserved in the Metropolitan Museum of Art (MET) in New York.
