    Description

    Antique Santa Clara Pueblo Pottery Bowl. Black on Black glaze. Coil Construction. Blossom Pattern?  Measures 3 1/4" tall, 5" wide, 3 1/2" opening and 2 5/8" base. Excellent original condition.
    This bowl was displayed at the Zeitner Geological Museum in Mission, South Dakota on the Rosebud Reservation, until 1976 when the museum was closed. Pottery in storage since. G. B. Zeitner, Proprietor, acquired this pottery on a road trip to the Southwest, in the late teens or early 1920's,
    to exhibit in his museum. Piece is
    Unsigned.
    I believe this was before the east coast museums came to New Mexico and advised the tribes to start signing their work.
