Description
Great coin for the variety collector. This is one of the two most sought after varieties for the 1888 year. Once considered to be an 1888/7 overdate, there was just not enough solid proof that it was....so it's said. This coin, of course, has the diagnostics needed to attribute the coin to the variety...the flag of a "1" emerging from the front pearl on the necklace, the diagnostic die crack on the reverse, and the small "1" within the upper loop of the last "8", however too difficult to see in a photo due to some grime deposits within the area on this particular coin. It is our best and honest opinion that this coin's condition is Typical to Choice Almost Uncirculated. While we honestly try to do our very best in representing and describing the condition of any coin we sell, by purchasing this coin, the buyer is in clear agreement that the sale of this coin is strictly between seller and buyer and for a mutually-agreed price, and is not necessarily contingent on our opinion, or on any opinion of any third-party grading company, or on any particular grade that such a company may assign it should the buyer decide to send in for grading services. Please use only your own clear judgment and/or numismatic expertise in purchasing this coin, and in closely examining it once received. It is to be clearly understood that the coin in this listing is for a raw, non-graded coin, sold “as-is”; that our personal opinion or assumptions of grade mentioned in this listing is clearly opinionated and subjective, as are any grades assigned by all graders on any coin; that there is absolutely no guarantee, implied or warranted, to any such opinion, assumption, or grade that would be assigned by a third party grading company; that it is to be clearly understood that such party may or may not agree with our subjective opinion, and may indeed assign the same grade, a higher grade, or a lower grade, or offer an otherwise different opinion on its condition. We all have our own opinions, and we openly urge any and all coin buyers to utilize all the same resources we use to help determine a grade, including such tools as The Official ANA Grading Standards and PCGS Photograde, as well as comparing other similarly-graded coins against those found in the PCGS website for images of coins in past professional auctions. It is further understood that a price paid for a coin is also controlled by eye-appeal, a certain want or need for a collection, and many other factors that are widely different from one buyer to another, and that a certain grade does not guarantee a certain price or value any more than a certain price or value guarantees a certain grade as all auction results will show. If it is a guarantee on a particular grade a buyer may want on this or any other raw coin buyer wishes to purchase from us, or from anyone for that matter, it would truly be the best option for the buyer to purchase only a previously professionally-graded and encapsulated coin if they truly cannot rely on their own numismatic expertise. The buyer is given an ample thirty-days to ascertain whether to keep it, or to return it for any reason without question. PLEASE DO NOT attempt to clean, or otherwise alter this coin for ANY reason. Rest assured however, the authenticity of this coin, as well as any claimed variety in this listing of the coin in question, is unconditionally and completely 100% guaranteed, so purchase with confidence. We WANT you to be happy and excited with your purchase. Please respectfully understand that any coin returned MUST be in the same exact condition, and in the same exact holder, capsule or flip in which it was sent and received, and we will truly be happy to refund you promptly. We strive to deliver a seamless, trouble-free transaction for all involved.
