1864-L Bronze Indian Cent – Sharp & Attractive (sharp XF detail) !Description:
This great looking 1864 With-L Indian cent has superb detail and great eye appeal. On the obverse, LIBERTY is sharp, and nearly all the diamonds on the ribbon can be seen. The “L” is clearly visible. Rev. sharpness is consistent with the obv., with clear shield lines. The rims on both sides are full & smooth. The color is original-looking chocolate brown. There is some light scattered verdigris noted on the obv, but no big problems, and the eye appeal is superb (please see pictures).
This coin will make a great addition to a small cent date & variety collection.

Numismatic Notes:
The Civil war continued in 1864, with generals Lee & Grant battling in the wilderness of Virginia and at Spotsylvania. The mint converted from the copper-nickel alloy to bronze for Indian cents during 1864. The recorded mintage of bronze cents in 1864 was 39.2 million. The bronze cents with L are much scarcer than the plain 1864 bronze cents.
